Hui ‘O Hawai‘i hosts a variety of events throughout the year to bring the spirit of aloha and culture of the islands to the San Luis Obispo community! From our end of year Luau to bonfires, volleyball, and food nights, Hui ‘O Hawai‘i offers a home away from home for students at Cal Poly. 🤙
Hui ‘O Hawai‘i’s Big · Little Program (also known as Kumu · Haumana Program) is the largest events of the year for the club. New members are paired with returning members to foster mentorship, guidance, and a strong sense of family. Each pairing is then sorted into one of the three "fams" that engage in friendly competition throughout the year: 76 Hammahz, Akamai Motors, and HNL.
Hui ‘O Hawaiʻi’s annual lūʻau hosts a program that includes hula performances from Hui Haumana, a variety of games and prizes, and an assortment of local foods that can be found on the islands! There are also local crafts and a Photo Booth that anyone is welcome to!
Illuminate is one of the biggest performance of the year! All the dance clubs on campus showcase their style and what they have been working on! Hui ‘O Hawai‘i’s - Hui Haumana showcases both hula and Tahitian dance!
Cal Poly's Culture Fest, hosted annually by the Multicultural Center, is a celebration of the diverse cultures around the university. The event brings together the culture clubs to share performances and foods from their culture. Hui ‘O Hawai‘i showcases hula and serves shave ice -- both beloved culture in Hawai‘i.
